What is this you call property? It cannot be the earth, for the land is our mother, nourishing all her children, beasts, birds, fish and all men. The woods, the streams, everything on it belongs to everybody and is for the use of all. How can one man say it belongs only to him?
-Massasoit (1581-1661), Chief of the Wampanoag Confederacy of modern-day New England
For over 40 years, the Cragsmoor Association has been the "watchdog" of the Cragsmoor community, working with government and other organizations to sustain Cragsmoor's natural beauty, environment and quality of life. It is also responsible for managing Bear Hill Preserve, Cragsmoor's 50-acre gem, with its scenic vistas and wooded trails.
